PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT FOR FALL 2012 ARCHEAOLOGY EXHIBIT

Buckles? Bottles? Stone tools? The Galt Museum & Archives is developing an exhibit and related programs focusing on archaeology in southwestern Alberta for the fall of 2012, and is seeking public input to ensure the exhibit responds to the community's curiosity about the topic.

 “Archaeology in Southwestern Alberta” was identified by the community in 2008 as one of the top 10 in-house produced exhibits to be shown at the Galt from 2010 to 2012. It will open October 6 and run through January 14, 2013.                  

“We’ve developed an online survey to determine the community’s interest in and knowledge of archaeology, what sites in southern Alberta are of interest, what people may have found in their own home or community, and what hands-on activities and programs people would enjoy,” says the Galt’s Curator, Wendy Aitkens.

“We look forward to hearing from people and using the findings from the survey to help guide the planning and development of the exhibit”.

 The public survey can be accessed through February 29 at surveymonkey.com/s/FQJVWVM. 

 Results from an earlier poll conducted in 2011 in preparation for the Galt’s 2013-15 exhibit schedule are being finalized, and the schedule will be announced in early February.
