Galt Museum Launches Summer School to Support Cultural Heritage in Ukraine

Lethbridge —The Galt Museum & Archives | Akaisamitohkanao’pa (eternal gathering place) is thrilled to unveil a new international collaborative initiative designed to support cultural heritage preservation in Ukraine. The project was created in 2023 by the Galt Archivist, Andrew Chernevych, and piloted in partnership with the International Council on Archives. The idea is to create a groundbreaking training opportunity for emerging archival professionals in Ukraine through a summer school program.

Lethbridge – The Galt Museum & Archives | Akaisamitohkanao’pa (eternal gathering place) is proud to announce the launch of a new temporary exhibition, Transplanted Sunflowers: The Ukrainian Immigrant Experience in Southern Alberta, 1940s to Present. This captivating exhibition offers a comprehensive exploration of the Ukrainian immigrant experience in southern Alberta from the mid-20th century to the early 21st century. It is scheduled to be on display from October 14, 2023, to April 7, 2024, at the Galt Museum & Archives.

Support for Heritage in Ukraine

The Galt Museum has launched an initiative in support of the sovereign state of Ukraine—a fundraising campaign in support of heritage institutions damaged by the Russian war. The Friends of the Sir Alexander Galt Museum Society shall administer the campaign.
