Transylvanians must be over the moon as October 2012 is Rocky Horror month in Lethbridge!

In addition to the sold-out theatre production currently on at the University of Lethbridge, the Galt Museum & Archives is gearing up for its 5th return engagement of southern Alberta’s only public screening of the original The Rocky Horror Picture Show by permission of 20th Century Fox on Saturday, October 27 at 10 pm.

Released on September 26, 1975, The Rocky Horror Picture Show [100 min] is a comedy cult classic. The story tells the tale of newly engaged couple Brad Majors [Barry Bostwick] and Janet Weiss [Susan Sarandon] who find themselves lost and with a flat tire on a cold and rainy November evening. Seeking a phone at a nearby castle, Brad and Janet discover a group of strange and outlandish people and are soon swept into the world of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Hysterical, indispensable, disturbing – the film has a great soundtrack and unforgettable audience participation.

Volunteers from the Kappa Sigma Lethbridge fraternity will be on hand at the event to lead participation. Surround-sound and rear projection create a regular movie theatre experience; a cash bar and other refreshments will be available.

“This is such a fun event, with a great mix of die-hard Rocky Horror fans and those who experience it for the first time,” says Chris Roedler, Resource Development Coordinator at the Galt, “everyone really gets into it! We will be holding prize draws prior to the screening for best costumes, as well as a dance competition during intermission.”

Doors open at 9:00 pm on Saturday, October 27 with the screening starting at 10:00 pm. A limited number of tickets are still available at the Galt Museum Store and online at $18 each, including all props, which will be handed out at the event. To reserve tickets call 403.320-3954; payment must be received at time of reservation. The Galt is open Monday-Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Thursdays from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm, and Sundays and holidays 1:00-5:00 pm. Check www.galtmuseum.com for more information.
