Kiipaitapiiyssinnooni Our Way of Life and Our History

Lethbridge, AB– This Galt Museum & Archives exhibition, guest curated by Rob First Charger, presents artworks by students at Kainai High School drawing on the long tradition of art within Blackfoot culture.

For the students of Kainai High School, the art work in this exhibition is a reflection of Kainai/Blood identity and culture in the twenty-first century. The art represents students’ personal responses to Canada’s 150 birthday, and offers perspectives of Indigenous youth, about Indigenous relationships with Canada.

This exhibit shines a light on the value of youth, creativity and the spirit of community collaboration. “We’re excited to provide a space for young Indigenous voices to be part of the discussion of what this 150th anniversary means from different perspectives”, says Galt Curator Aimee Benoit. Media are invited to the invitation-only exhibit opening celebrations for Kainai high school artists and their special guests on Sun JUN 11 at 2pm at the Galt Museum.
