Trader Day at Fort Whoop-Up
Lethbridge—Join Fort Whoop-Up in a fundraising celebration of southern Alberta history from 6 to 9 pm on June 15 at Trader Day.
“This is our second year putting on this wonderful event” says Chris Roedler, Resource Development Coordinator at the Galt Museum & Archives. “Trader Day is intended to be a special after-hours experience for adults to enjoy the premises and explore our past with their friends in a friendly atmosphere with good food and drinks.”
Experience the Fort with friends in a closed-door experience that includes a bison chili dinner and a cash bar with beer and wine, and whisky tasting boards with a variety of different whiskys. The Black Powder Society will be doing live firing demonstrations with muskets and other vintage firearms throughout the evening. “This is the first year partnering with the Black Powder Society for this event. This will add a new adventure to Trader Day.” says Roedler.
The event will feature local musicians playing traditional music during the event including Pincher Creek’s own Phil Lethbridge and band. Phil is a Métis fiddler who has played at venues in southern Alberta for several decades. “We are very excited to have Phil Lethbridge and his band preforming again for us. His music gets everyone up dancing in the compound,” says Roedler.
For those anxious to get early bird tickets to the Galt’s Beer Tasting Soirée and our upcoming special events at Fort Whoop-Up, tickets will be available as contest prizes throughout the evening! Each visitor to Trader Day will leave with their own Fort Whoop-Up shot glass.
Tickets for Trader Day are $25 and are available at Fort Whoop-Up and at fort.galtmuseum.com.
