Good-bye and Hello at Galt Museum & Archives
TUE JAN 03 | GALT MUSEUM & ARCHIVES
Lethbridge, AB– After a successful decade of service to our community, we are saying goodbye to Wendy Aitkens as our curator at the Galt Museum & Archives and Fort Whoop-up. Wendy is retiring from our team. Twenty-six years of commitment to making a difference through teaching, collections, and curatorial work was important to the communities Wendy served. Wendy provided us with some fascinating stories and wonderful histories, from Smile!, a look at photography in southwestern Alberta to the history of the bridge to Miss Edith Kirk’s life. We intend to stay connected to Wendy and her talents and kind generosity in decades to come.
We are delighted to announce the new curator for the Galt Museum and Fort Whoop-up is Aimee Benoit. Aimee has worked at the Galt in collections and research. She brings curatorial experience from the Glenbow Museum and the Calgary Stampede. She has an extensive academic career with two Masters and studies in Western Canadian History and Heritage Conservation. Aimee researches and teaches in these subject areas at two Alberta universities and volunteers on the Glenbow Acquisitions Committee and the Alberta Historical Resources Board. “We are pleased to have Aimee join our team as we invite the community to visit our new exhibit From Pianos to Power Chords which opens on February 04.2016” Says Galt Museum & Archives CEO and Executive Director Susan Burrows-Johnson.
