Free Admission at the Galt’s 2nd Annual Harvest Festival
Museum Community Evening | Saturday OCTOBER 5, 2013 | 5:00 - 9:00 pm
The whole community is invited to celebrate under the light of the harvest moon with food, music, dance, hands-on activities and hay rides at the Galt Museum & Archives second annual Harvest Festival, a free Museum Community Evening event happening Saturday, October 5 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm.
“We were so pleased with the community interest in this special program last year,” says Leslie Hall, Community Programs Coordinator at the Galt, “and are fortunate to be supported by Southern Alberta Learning Assessment Services [SALAS] who are making free admission possible this year.”
Two very popular activities from last year are included in the evening—line dancing lessons with Windy Rafters Barn Dance and hay rides on the Galt grounds. Karen Romanchuk featuring lead guitarist Pete Watson will provide live music; and making candy apples is one of the planned harvest crafts and foods activities. The Discovery Hall will also be open during the event.
“Harvest is a common experience for many people and brings together people of all walks of life, as our current exhibit, Religion in the Bible Belt illustrates”, says Hall.
Upcoming 2013 Galt special programs and events include Music Trivia Night on October 3; Cemetery Tours by Flashlight October 4-19; Hysterical History Improv on October 24; “A Sorry State” screening on November 14; and A Night at the Museum Shopping Event on November 28.
