FREE ADMISSION AT GALT MUSEUM’S NEW HARVEST FESTIVAL
Museum Community Evening | Saturday September 29, 2012 | 6:00 - 9:00 pm
The whole community is invited to celebrate under the light of the harvest moon with food, music, dance, hands-on activities and hay rides at the Galt Museum & Archives new Harvest Festival, a free Museum Community Evening event scheduled for Saturday, September 29 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
“This celebration of harvest will be fun for all ages,” promises Leslie Hall, Community Programs Coordinator at the Galt.
The evening includes line dancing lessons with Windy Rafters Barn Dance, live music with the Shaela Miller & Peter Watson Duo, stone soup, hay rides, and traditional fall activities like making corn husk dolls and wheat weaving, and more. The Discovery Hall will also be open during the event.
“Harvest is a common experience for many people, either because of their family history with agriculture, or because of their own gardens in the city,” says Hall. “Harvest festivals are traditional ways for communities to celebrate in the fall, and we look forward to celebrating this shared part of our history with the community.”
Upcoming 2012 Galt special programs and events include Rocky Horror Picture Show October 27; Artifact Identification on November 22; A Night at the Museum Shopping Event on November 29; and an Archaeology Movie Trivia Night on December 6.
