Free Admission & Programs at Galt Museum on Canada Day

Museum Community Day Monday July 01 | 1:00-5:00 pm | free admission

Lethbridge – The Galt Museum & Archives celebrate Canada's 146th birthday, our heritage and the Wind Work, Wind Play: Weathervanes & Whirligigs exhibit on loan from the Canadian Museum of Civilization with games, crafts, music and more on Monday, July 1 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Admission is free.

Activities are geared at all age groups, and include the Canadian Citizenship Quiz Trivia Game with Sir Alexander Galt himself; making a quill pen and home-made ink to write a postcard on the spot; watching archival films; completing a new Treasure Hunt in the Discovery Hall, and more.

Special guests include local musical talent the Bryant and Watson Duo, and The Windy Hills Kite Folks Bob & Debbie Conlon will demonstrate kite-flying skills and provide a kitemaking activity. The Galt is also introducing food at the event: hot dogs, salad-in-a-jar, lemonade and more will be available at a reasonable cost.

Free admission for the day is made possible by the support of a Celebrate Canada Grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage.

“We are thrilled that with the support from the federal Celebrate Canada Grant we can once again offer free admission and historic fun for the whole family!” says Leslie Hall, Community Programs Coordinator at the Galt.
