Fort Whoop-Up Welcomes Adorable Newborn Donkey to Its Animal Family
Lethbridge – The Galt Museum & Archives | Akaisamitokano’pa (eternal gathering place) and Fort Whoop-Up are delighted to announce the arrival of an adorable new baby donkey born on Thursday, June 20, 2024. The healthy foal is currently thriving under the care of our dedicated team and has quickly become a beloved member of the Fort family. The foal, not yet named, has charmed visitors with his wobbly legs, large expressive eyes, and frequent, adorable naps.
“Our excitement is through the roof with the arrival of our newest team member this year! Our beloved donkey, Jackie, has given birth to a healthy boy,” shares Connor Kenney, Fort Whoop-Up Site Coordinator, who has played a significant role in caring for the newborn.
Fort Whoop-Up is inviting the community and visitors to help choose a name for this charming new member. “We encourage everyone to come to the Fort and take part in our naming contest. Simply visit the front desk, write your suggested name on a sticky note, and place it on our whiteboard,” explains Kenney.
“Everyone was thrilled at the arrival of a little one at the Fort. If you’re in the park this summer, make sure to pop in and say hello to our youngest team member,” says Dr. Sarah Newstead, CEO/Executive Director of the Galt Museum & Archives and Fort Whoop-Up.
