Family Day History Celebration
Mon FEB 18.13 | 1:00-5:00 pm | admission rates apply
A photo-filled afternoon for the whole family is in store at the Galt Museum & Archives new Family Day History Celebration on Monday, February 18, when historic photo booths, family photo restoration, family history research and scrapbooking stations will keep families busy from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
“We will be celebrating families and family history with programs for the whole family,” says Leslie Hall, Community Program Coordinator for the Galt.
Pose for an old-fashioned photo complete with Victorian costumes or create a new piece of history with a photo of your family in their own clothes; scrapbook using copies of our archival photos (or bring your own from home). Genealogists will be on site to ask about researching your family history, and a specialist in photo restoration can help you learn how to repair and keep your family photos safe for the future.
“We are being assisted in this endeavour by the Family History Center for family research, Peter Etches from A.E. Cross Studios for photo restoration, and Photo Adventures from Banff who will bring their costumes and backdrops and email the photos to the families,” according to Archivist Andrew Chernevych.
Admission fees apply: $6 for adults, $5 seniors; $3 students and ages 7-17; and $15 for families, which include photo booth photos, scrapbooking supplies, as well as access to the new exhibit “Canadian Science and Engineering Hall of Fame” on loan from the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa until May 19. The special program is free for annual pass holders.
