Canning and Safe Food Prep at Heritage Arts Workshop

Like it or not, fall is approaching… a great time to put away the fruits of your summer gardening labour! Home economist Jan Warren—who has been innovatively drying and preserving things she likes to make meals more interesting and healthy—will be at the Galt Museum & Archives on Sunday, September 8 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm to talk about canning and safe food preparation.

“Jan will explain the various ways to preserve the food quality in a safe and ready to eat manner, including canning, freezing and drying,” says Leslie Hall, Community Program Coordinator for the Galt. “Try your hand a making jelly—and get ideas for winter foods in this hands-on workshop on the historic art of preserving food.”
