On October 25, 1870, the last battle between the Niitsitapi, Blackfoot, and Cree peoples in the “Battle of Belly River.” The battle started on prairie level where West Lethbridge is now, and moved down the coulees and across the Belly or Oldman River, finally ending on the south side of the river where Indian Battle Park sits today. The Last Great Indian Battle includes eyewitness accounts, maps, illustrations, and photographs to present the story of this battle in the heart of present-day Lethbridge.
