The Buffalo Journal: Episode 3

As part of Indigenous Peoples Week, the Galt Museum & Archives is releasing digitized versions of a local television program called The Buffalo Journal.

The Buffalo Journal is a television program preserved at the Galt Museum & Archives. The program was produced in the early 1990s as a collaborative project between the Blood Tribe (Indian News Media) and Lethbridge Television. According to the creators, the program "looks at the culture, history and contemporary lifestyle of Canada's aboriginal people." Please note that the creators use language and terms that were common at the time of production and do not reflect current terminology.

The program includes the following subjects

• an exploration of the relationship between the Tsuut'ina Nation on the Sarcee Reserve and the nearby City of Calgary

• a profile of drummer Pat Kennedy who participated in the pow-wow circuit for over 30 years

• a profile of the Kainai News

• a profile of Boye Ladd, an entertainer from the Winnebago Reservation in Winsconsin, USA
