“My community is everything to me. When I left my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, I was scared. I had accepted a job offer in Lethbridge, a city where I had no relatives or friends. I was leaving my old life behind me and starting a new one. Instantly I felt a warm welcome in the city. The people were friendly, smiled at me when we passed on the sidewalk, and had no reservations about saying “Hello” to a complete stranger. As my responsibilities grew in my job in broadcast, I spent more time in the community reporting on news stories that mattered to southern Alberta. I got to know many people and realized how tight-knit the community really is, and how we look out for each other. I continue to direct, produce and report on issues that matter most to southern Alberta. I am happy here, and I am proud to call southern Alberta my home. While proximity has made us neighbours, the common goal of keep southern Alberta wonderful has made us all allies.”
