What Cause the First World War? The Road to Sarajevo, 1858–1914

Lethbridge – Re-live the amazing chain of events leading to the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914 on Sunday, November 2 beginning at 2:00 pm as part of the Café Galt lecture series at the Galt Museum & Archives, with Military Historian Stéphane Guevremont who will explore contemporary interpretations of many factors which contributed to the start of the First World War.

Learn about the impact of the rise of Prussia, of the arms race, and of the game of alliances in European politics at the turn of the century. A fascinating multimedia presentation, not to be missed! Includes intermission and Q&A.

Admission fees are $6 adults, $5 seniors, and $3 students; Annual Pass holders receive free admission; registration is not required. Background

Dr. Stéphane Guevremont is a former aircraft mechanic. He holds a B.A. in History (McGill University), an M.A. in War Studies (Royal Military College of Canada) and a Ph.D. (University of Calgary) on the Canadian aircraft industry. He teaches history and speaks on CBC French Radio One Alberta.
