City of Lethbridge Municipal Housing Strategy

at Galt Museum & Archives

Like many other communities, the City of Lethbridge has always had a homelessness problem. But the recent opioid crisis has exacerbated this issue. Drug and substance abuse is the leading cause of homelessness in Lethbridge. Our homeless population has increased from 89 to 223 in the last two years. The City of Lethbridge has developed and implemented a Municipal Housing Strategy. The strategy will address homelessness as well as the spectrum of housing issues in Lethbridge by ensuring that all citizens have access to safe and affordable housing. Martin Thomsen, Manager for Community Social Development for the City of Lethbridge, will provide an overview of the work the City is doing and will provide an inside glimpse into the strategic priorities relating to housing.
