The Buffalo Journal: Episode 7

As part of Indigenous Peoples Week, the Galt Museum & Archives is releasing digitized versions of a local television program called The Buffalo Journal.

The Buffalo Journal is a television program preserved at the Galt Museum & Archives. The program was produced in the early 1990s as a collaborative project between the Blood Tribe (Indian News Media) and Lethbridge Television. According to the creators, the program "looks at the culture, history and contemporary lifestyle of Canada's aboriginal people." Please note that the creators use language and terms that were common at the time of production and do not reflect current terminology.

The program includes the following subjects:

  • Indian Rodeo including a profile of Richard Biche, Sarcee, rodeo clown,

  • North American Indigenous Games, Edmonton, Alberta,

  • interviews with Gerri Many Fingers and Carol Starlight, fashion designers

  • history of the Kainai Chieftainship
