Exhibition Proposals

The Galt Museum & Archives invites curators, photographers and artists to submit proposals for future exhibitions. The Galt mandate must be reflected in the exhibition: The Galt Museum & Archives engages and educates our communities in the human history of southwestern Alberta by preserving and sharing collections, stories and memories that define our collective identity and guide our future.

The Galt has two available exhibition spaces, each with its own unique size and requirements. The main floor exhibit space is a hallway with 21 linear metres (71 linear feet) of wall space. There is floor space for one to three cases but this diminishes the wall space accordingly. The lower floor exhibit space is also a hallway, with 17 linear metres (58 linear feet) of wall space. It is best suited to two-dimensional shows but may also accommodate one display case. Both hallway spaces have camera surveillance and LED lighting. The walls are interrupted by doors, other hallways, etc. and the spaces do not have museum standard humidity and temperature control.

The Galt Museum & Archives develops and implements a three-year exhibit plan so inclusion is dependent on space in the schedule and approval by management and the exhibit committee. If a submission is accepted, the applicant may receive a small honorarium. Please note that the Galt Museum & Archives maintains curatorial oversight for all projects accepted.
